This is one of the most excellent Mod launchers, it gets Minecraft clients ready for the changes introduced by the mods.
Minecraft Forge is a very useful application when it comes to making sure that the different mods 'get on well' together and that there are no incompatabilities. So much so, that some mods expressly require the use of Forge.
To install Minecraft Forge you must open the Minecraft .JAR file with a decompression programme, and introduce it into the Forge files. For more details, take a look at our article on how to instal Mods in Minecraft.
Minecraft Forge is also compatible with Modloader and supported mods, which turns it into a launcher of more advanced mods.
Not all Minecraft mods need Forge ... but the great majority do, especially the more spectacular ones which change your experience of the game. So don't be scared of trying to use Forge and to experiment with the possibilities. Remember that the Minecraft client can restore from his own account.
