FreeMat is a free environment for making quickly prototypes and data process. The version 4.0 will give you some news compared to its predecessor. FreeMat 4.0 offers you some internal changes and improvements.

- In the first place, version 4.0 contents an improved version of Editor, with an integrated errors debugger
- This version also includes a compiler which is included by default Just in Time
- Its interface has been improved too, with command historical
- One of the best improvements in the version 4.0 is the great compatibility which shows with Matlab, is an application with which demonstrate more than 366 compatible points.
- It has function much faster for drawing
- It contains also dynamic links with BLAS, with which users can use optimized BLAS libraries
- It has vectored functions sprint, fprintf, sscanf, fscanf
- Internally, it has a new implementation of arrays (vectors and matrices) and Just in Time compiler
